ABOUT THESE STATISTICS
HTSAlert's tariff change statistics summarize every US import tariff rate change detected by daily monitoring of official USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule data and Federal Register notices. The aggregates on this page are computed directly from HTSAlert's insert-only change records: monthly change counts over the last six full months, a breakdown by governing trade action such as Section 301, Section 232, and IEEPA over the last ninety days, and the most active HTS chapters by detected change volume. The most cited figure is the retroactivity share: over the last ninety days, 0% of detected tariff changes were already legally in effect before they appeared in published data. Because every record stores both a legal effective date and a detected date, this gap can be measured precisely rather than estimated. All statistics refresh automatically as the daily monitoring run detects new changes.
